The setting is based on our SCPA CED classroom and work settings. The scenarios are inspired by the enthusiasm and resistance to change.

Katherine is going through her purse to get money to buy a coffee. Janet walks into the classroom looking. Janet interrupts Marie Christine & Katherine.

Janet: ‘‘Hey have you seen Philip? He wanted to talk about what he missed at our last group meeting and I wanted to see what he thinks of this technology thing.’’
=== Pre kiwi party ===

Katherine: ‘’No, … but I really need a coffee. Yes, this technology thing sounds really great but I am terrible with computers, you know (Katherine continues talking….’’
Bee, Arnie, Bev, Irene and Thor walk into the classroom.

Janet leaves, Katherine continues talking with Marie Christine and heads out the door.
Bee: I’m not so crazy about this kiwi idea. I already spend too much time in front of my computer. With the school work AND figuring out… I am really not so sure…

Janet circulates a card written Many Many Months Later.
Arnie: Y'know, this technology thing ''sounds'' great but I'm terrible with computers, the last time I tried to use one it burned my toast badly.

Philip walks in. Cleo, David follows behind Phillip.
Bev: I am DEFINITELY really interested because we could participate remotely in meetings in the evening and on weekends and holidays, also on lunch breaks and while showering, with the right equipment.

Cleo: ‘’Hey Philip, How was the wiki party? David was telling me about it. Did you go? ‘’
Irene: That's not exactly what kiwi is about.. how about I have a kiwi party to try to make this all clear?

Phillip: ‘Well actually I got lost so I went back home. … actually this reminds me of a story when I…(Phillip tells a story). ‘’
Thor: Excellent, more control means greater efficiency.

Cleo: ‘’ Wow, ..Cleo reacts to story…’’
Bee: Sure, but I'm only free Tuesdays between 5 and 5:30.

Both Phillip and Cleo leave the classroom.
=== Post kiwi party ===

Janet circulates a card written Years Later.
Bee: Hey Thor, How was the kiwi party? Irene was telling me about it. Did you go?

Philip:’’ It sounds very interesting and might be helpful for our affinity group and really help my community.’’
Thor: I didn't go.. if we're going to use computers, we should all be assigned one and given training and enforcement until we do things the proper way.

Cleo: ‘’So David, what exactly is wiki? ’’
Cindy: Wow, what if that doesn't work for someone?

David: ‘’It’s not a big deal but...’’ (David explains wiki briefly to Phillip and Cleo)
Thor: They should be sent to a reeducation classes until they do things the proper way.

Cleo, Phillip & David walk out of the class.
Cindy: So Irene, what exactly is kiwi?

Janet circulates a card written Many Years Later.
Irene: It's software based on the Web, you have to learn a few conventions, but it helps you solve a lot of different problems as a group or when including the public.

Everyone enters the classroom talking ...
Bee: It sounds very interesting and might be helpful for our affinity group and really help my community organizing.

Marie Christine: ‘‘yes, well maybe we should try it.’’
Bee: Yes, well maybe we should try it. Won't some people be excluded?

Janet: ‘’No way. I’m so sick of computers. ’’
Irene: You have to make sure to include those people using different means.

Cleo: ‘’ I am still not so sure about this.’’
Thor: They can be reeducated.

Katherine: ‘’Yes, we definitely should do it.’’
Arnie: Computers are dangerous. Couldn't we do all this with the fax machine?

Phillip: ‘’What is wiki anyways?’’
Cindy: I am still not so sure about this.

David: Well, we can have a wiki party if you want.’’
Bev: Yes, we definitely should do it. Bureaucrat Today says everyone else is doing it (holds up a copy of Bureaucrat Today with a caption "Kiwis: Everyone else is doing it.")
